Chief Nursing Officers are influencers regarding improving the patient experience. Many CNOs are taking the lead in healthcare organizations in this endeavor which could include playing a major role in not only improving the quality of care, but also how technology is being used.
Altura recently sponsored and hosted an interactive summit attended by CNOs nationwide and gained valuable insights as to how technology is being used by leading healthcare organizations to improve patient experience.
We are excited to share what we learned:
Because technology is ever-evolving, nearly half of all healthcare professionals surveyed felt that they not only needed to assess their current technologies to determine what enhancements are necessary, but had plans to review this in as early as six months to a year. This conveys an urgency to keep up with changing technologies to streamline internal processes and meet the growing expectations of patients.
The security of inter-organizational data sharing continues to be a top priority of many healthcare professionals. Nearly one out of every three respondents stated they currently did not have the capability to immediately share medical records, large patient files, or x-ray images with patients, doctors, and partner healthcare facilities using a highly secure file exchange solution.
There is a crucial need for healthcare organizations to provide a centralized and accessible platform to manage, store, and share essential patient information. Over half of those surveyed did not have a secure clinical collaboration platform to connect them to their patients.
Inefficiency in processes lead to higher operations costs and as a result, patients end up paying more. The five top concerns among CNOs were workflow improvement, reducing redundant processes, improved patient communications, better reporting and analytics, and improved patient monitoring.
With regard to voice-to-text transcription, 40% of those surveyed did not currently have this capability in their facility but would like to have the ability to convert voice into text thus enabling response in real-time.
We have gained valuable insights that are helping us better understand what healthcare organizations are looking for with regard to enhancing the patient experience. By adding real-time communications processes into the healthcare workflow, your organization will see immediate improvements that enhance revenues, lower costs, add convenience, and improve personalized interaction with your patients.
