We are proud to welcome Jerry Eisner, ENP, Vice President of RedSky to discuss their cloud-based E911 solution.
Dialing 9-1-1: It Should Just Work
By Jerry Eisner, ENP, VP – Public Safety, RedSky Technologies, Inc.
It has been a long time in the making, but we are finally arriving at the deadlines of vitally important E911 regulations. This is cause for celebration, as these regulations will help keep employees and visitors of businesses across the nation safe in emergency situations.
The goal Congress and the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) set out to accomplish was simple. Ensure that dialing 9-1-1 from business telephone systems works every time. However, making sure 9-1-1 works for Multi-Line Telephone Systems (MLTS) has become increasingly complex as technology has advanced.
With the rise of cloud-based soft phones, businesses need increasingly dynamic solutions that provide access to emergency services to all employees no matter what device they may be calling from or where they are located. When someone dials 9-1-1, they should expect the same level of service no matter what device or platform they called from. Furthermore, dynamic E911 solutions that live in the cloud provide full compliance with the legislation we’ve been discussing.
As you learned in the last blog, Kari’s Law and the first deadline for RAY BAUM’s Act have already passed and require immediate compliance. This year, businesses should prepare to comply with the second phase of RAY BAUM’s Act, which goes into effect in January of 2022 and sets requirements for devices that can move around the office and all phones that are off-premises.
Most likely, your company has a larger number of remote workers than ever before. Implementing a cloud-based E911 solution will not only keep your company 100% compliant with federal legislation, but will keep your remote workers safe if they should dial 9-1-1.
RedSky Makes Cloud-Based E911 Easy
RedSky has a cloud-based solution for any on-premises based call server that can meet the requirements of the FCC Rule. Service can be established in as little as 24 hours. You tell us where your devices are and route 9-1-1 calls to us, over the PSTN or a SIP trunk, and we do the rest. We are here to make E911 easy.
The service is called E911 Anywhere® because we can take a 9-1-1 call from anywhere in the US and Canada and deliver it, with dispatchable location data, to any 9-1-1 call center in the US and Canada. As your environments climb the complexity ladder, RedSky has solutions to meet and exceed your requirements, all the while maintaining compliance with FCC and State regulations.
Have soft phones to allow remote workers? We have MyE911®. It runs in Windows, MAC, Android, and iOS devices with any soft phone client. It is designed to let the user self-provision their dispatchable location. You, the enterprise, gain compliance while allowing your employees to update their own emergency location in real time. All it takes is the end user’s email, DID, and a software download.
Is your enterprise using Avaya call servers and some people have desk phones, while others have soft phones? No problem. E911 Manager® tracks the location of every device and this location is used by E911 Anywhere® to route and deliver the call to the appropriate Public Safety Answering Point (PSAP) with real time location information.
Kari’s Law also calls for the enterprise to be notified that a 9-1-1 call is taking place. RedSky can help your company do that, too. You can receive text messages, emails, screen pop-ups, even real-time conference calling with Security in the event of an emergency call.
Becoming 100% Compliant…It’s a Breeze
RedSky offers the tools you need to become compliant with FCC and State rules. Implement an E911 solution that treats all your users equally in the event they dial 9-1-1, no matter where they are or what kind of company-issued device they may use.
In my mind, planning for and becoming compliant with federal legislation should not be a roadblock to everyday business operations or quickly and efficiently providing your employees with complete E911 coverage. That’s why RedSky is here to make 9-1-1 easily available to office workers, no matter what State they live in or what kind of phone they use.
